Copenhagen Half Marathon

So we decided to visit Copenhagen for a weekend of parkrun and a half marathon. On Saturday the 12th of September they ran at Amager Faelled parkrun in Copenhagen where they were warmly welcomed by Anne Petersen and her volunteer team. After the run many local runners were very keen to speak to the runners with a number of possible return visits promised. The following day, five of the travellers participated in the Copenhagen Half Marathon, together with about 22,000 others. A great weekend which also saw the celebration of Annette Sissons birthday, her 50th parkrun and Dan Evans’ 100th parkrun.

Parkrun 15/11

So another Saturday and another parkrun comes along, this time it was time for Jack to face off against Alan, in a fiercely contested 5K with Alan just managing to pull away with a time of 20:24 and Jack chasing hard to finish in a time of 20:43. This is his first parkrun for a while with minor injuries putting him out of last weeks Time Trial, I’m sure they’ll push hard over the winter months and continue to get closer to that sub-20 finish the both want at Black Park! In other news Linda also managed to take nearly 3 minutes off her time 2 weeks ago, getting ever closer to that PB that has eluded her for so long.

Plus we’d like to say that Fran and Andy’s puppy is super super cute, and thank them for bringing him along to support!

London Marathon 2014

So we had a few dedicated runners who decided to take on the might of the London Marathon, Steve Barrington and Kat Matharu, both completed the course in very hot conditions on Sunday.

Steve one of our veteran marathon runners, came home in just over 4 hours (27 seconds precisely) and Kal in her first ever marathon (she only started running with us 2 years ago!) after not getting through in the ballot got the club place, she then spent the beginning of 2014 preparing herself, coming home in just over 6 hours (3 minutes and 23 seconds this time) which is a fantastic achievement for both of them! We hope they’re enjoying her recovery, and will see them back at the club soon.

Silverstone Half Marathon

So after a long build up after the winter season Jack and Gary headed off to Silverstone race track to see how their legs would fair over the longer distance!

As we got closer to the race track, we noticed the sky’s were darkening and the wind was getting more blustery, this was a sure sign of things to come as the race ended up being held with gusts of up the 30 mph. The first mile started out fast, with tough conditions I couldn’t tell how fast I was running, with everyone running in slip stream behind each other, no one really wanted to push on...
