Winter Time Trial Reports

 2005

March 8th

Not the best turn out for the final winter time trial, however, Bill Hart puts in a great performance to claim first place and prove he is on the road to recovery from his injuries. Gary Nisbet finished second with Keith Morris in hot pursuit on the run in to the finish line.

February 15th

Michelle regains her form to romp home in first place in 24:42. Great to see Bill Hart’s return following his long absence with knee problems, he finished strongly in second place. Gary Nisbet is gradually moving through the field and finished ahead of his father in 20:54. Another return following a long absence was Richard Wallace he completed the course for a qualifying time.

After the time trial 18 members visited the Curry Delight for a most enjoyable evening.

January 11th 2006

A very good turn out made a testing trial for the top places. Bill Hart returning to running following a long absence through injury was the first to finish establishing a qualifying time, Elaine Carrera and Angela Sobers made their debut to the winter time trials, therefore, ran for a qualifying time. Pam Swaddling held on to her position to claim first place. Peter Furness ran a seasonal best to finish second. Mel Jones made her mark with a creditable run to finish third. Graham Kent has made his third successive course improvement to finish in 17:33min/sec.

The meeting was supported by 18 members.

December 14th

Twelve members turned out for the third winter time trial. This was a closely contested trial with 4 members chasing their recently established qualifying times. Ryan Jones had to dig deep on his reserves to stay ahead of Graham Kent, Maggie Newman was pushed along the home straight by Tom Waugh to finish third and fourth respectively. Jacquie Howell is showing signs of regaining fitness hold on to fifth place. Sadly Mel Jones who completed the first lap full of promise was forced to a walk over the latter stage with a severe ankle injury.

November 16th

Twelve members lined up on this cold November night with plenty of support from our injured and post operation members. Maggie Newman set off with Jacqui Howell to set herself a qualifying time of 25:25min/secs. Graham Kent also set himself a good qualifying time of 18:50min/secs. Tony Kent claimed first position with an improvement of 1:24min/secs on his previous time. Ryan & Mel Jones both ran for qualifying times 20:04min/secs and 24:39min/secs respectively. In fact everyone improved on their October times.

October 19th
Firstly apologies to those who missed the trial, there appears to have been a breakdown in communication.
Jacqui Howell led the field of 11 runners home to set her self a tough qualifying time to follow. Peter Ford claimed first place with an excellent time of 24:36min/sec to set his mark on the Winter series. Tony Kent proved he is holding his form by finishing 2nd position. Gary Nisbet is making his presence felt by moving through the field to finish 3rd in 21:24 min/sec. Saumen Kar is one to watch for the future, he set a qualifying time of 20:28min/sec.
