Summer Time Trials 2006 |
|
Wednesday 30th August Despite the early start light was fading fast as 17 members lined up for the final trial of the summer season. Peter Ford did well to hold on to first position as Sam Shimakage was pressing hard in second place. Brian Skinner was close behind with Gerry Woolford following in his wake. It certainly was dark by the time the final runner came in. It will be quite interesting discover the overall winner of the series. The fact the park gate was locked meant another half mile was added to the run back to the club. A special vote of thanks to our timekeeper, Colin Aldous, who has done a great job in both winter and summer time trials. |

Wednesday 9th August Considering the number of members away on holidays we had a good turn out. Nicola Dowling excelled to finish in first place improving on her previous best by almost two minutes, she was followed closely by Tony Newman who is returning to form following injury. Mick McGuigan in his first appearance in this years time trials proved he has not lost his form to finish 3rd in 28:13. Pleased to welcome Lee Dunster and James Anderson who ran for a qualifying time.

Wednesday 19th July Peter ford makes the most of a reduced field to romp home in first place, Bill Hart claims second place, Brian Skinner ran his usual stable pace to finish in third place, Gerry Woolford acquitted himself well in his first trial in fourth place. |

Wednesday 14th June Quite a contrast to last month, a pleasant evening attracts 14 runners to compete in this months time trial. Gary Fiddes makes a fine return to the Summer TT with an impressive run to claim first place. Nicola Dowling did well to finish second considering it was her first TT since June last year. Clive Bonner finished strongly in 3rd position with a time of 29:08min/sec, followed closely by Keith Morris with a time of 29:20min/sec. Pleased to welcome Clare Lawlor and Gerry Woolford who ran for a qualifying time. |

Wednesday 24th May The first Time Trial starts in the pouring rain, and just to make things worse the gate was locked so we all had to walk round the park to get to the start. Peter Ford is back to running and was the first of the eleven runners to set off, we also have Ian Smith back with us and two new hardy souls joined us Jill Carney & Dean Mc Carthy although probably not the best conditions for the introduction to the Summer? TT. Gary Nisbet was first home who caught the time keeper off guard as he came flying down the hill as the runners were expected to start coming back after 50 minutes, but Gary blew the field apart by coming home after 44 minutes, 6 minutes before expected so well done Gary. The rest of them then started to come in all looking very soggy and bedraggled, it rained the whole time so not very pleasant conditions for running in, or to stand around timing not sure who was the daftest ? I would like to say a BIG thanks to them all for turning up it makes it worth while doing if you get the support especially in inclement weather.(Colin Aldous.)
