Any race that starts and finishes in a hole in the ground under Junction 3 of the M4 can hardly be labeled a classic, however the Concorde 10K has developed a reputation for being a well organised and friendly local event and this year was no exception. Nomination as a Championship event ensured a good Club turnout and first competitive appearance of the hopefully soon to be affiliated Striders and Strollers section helped boost numbers further.

Concorde 10K 2005

The attraction of the Concorde 10K does not diminish, with the colours of the Hayes & Harlington road runners in full flourish. Gary Nisbet was just pipped into second position in the junior race, whilst his dad Jack, led home 13 club members, to finish in 38:38 min/sec. Peter Furness, Mick McGuigan and Martin Keegan, made up the first 4 club members to claim 4th Male Team overall.

Concorde 10K 2003

Not for the first time the gate exiting Cranford Park was locked causing a little congestion at the start and led to the rare sight of Ian Robinson leading Jack Nisbet - at least until Jack realised the significance of reaching the gate first and out-sprinted him (just wait until next year Jack!). The remainder of the race appeared incident free with even the legendary motorists of Hayes and Harlington on their best behaviour.

It can't denied that Thames Valley Harriers dominated the race, but once again we featured in several of the prize categories picking up both the Men's and Lady's team 3rd prizes and 3rd LV35 for Jac Aldous. Just as satisfying for those concerned were PB's for Michelle Sampson, Gary Fides and Ian Robinson - the latter having waited patiently since 1993 to achieve it.

Jac Aldous would also like it to be known that the showers at the BA Concorde Club were wonderful!
