Winter Time Trial Wednesday 9th December 2009 Daniel Evans proved that last week was not just a flash in the pan by reducing his time by another two minutes, Jack Nisbet followed him home, but was running at a scratch time to judge his fitness following a long spell of injury. Mark claimed second place with an inspired finish just pipping Annette on the line. Michelle Sampson keeps shaving seconds of her best time bur still can't hit the front on the line. Results
Winter Time Trial Wednesday 11th November 2009 Some pretty good times set by the scratch runners, Mark led the field home to set an impressive qualifying time, hot on his heels was Daniel Evans with another good qualifying time, good to have Sue Ford back after quite a long spell, who elected to run for a qualifying time An urgent call of nature meant that Jacqui Howell started out of position but still had a good run. John Shaw claimed the first place finisher with Peter Furness in second place. Results.
Stevenage Half Marathon 1st November 2009 Two club members competed in the final club championship event for this year. Both Daniel Evans and Brian Skinner braved the elements to finish in 1:56:19 & 1:59:59 respectively. When Daniel was asked if he enjoyed the run, his reply was somewhat curt to say the least, but he did admit to an unusual experience. At the finish he noticed his shoes covered in blood, but did'nt experience discomfort running, it was only when took his top off that he realised he had "Bleeding nipples".

Great Capital Run
Sunday 13th September 2009
Report
from Peter Furness who competed in the Great Capital Run,
which was a 5k race in Battersea Park, the organisers had
decided to theme the race as a contest between England
Australia and the Rest of the World, with my race entry I
was sent a Red technical T shirt for England to wear on
day. those running for Australia wore yellow and the Rest of
the world white.
There was quite a splash of
colour on the start line with over 3000 competing, the
course was flat but quite twisty around the paths of the
park.
I ran 20.12 for third place in
my age group and 85th overall the race being won for England
by Andy Baddeley the UK international in 13mins 45secs (he
must have flown around)
Sadly there was no repeat Ashes
triumph as the team race based on average time of all
competitors who finished under 40mins went to Australia.

Winter Time Trial February 11th 2009 Things are really hotting up, everyone is doing PB's, but on the day there is only one winner, this week it was Keith Morris. Runners were crossing the line fast and furious having given their all. Second place went to Gary Nisbet who led Tony Kent by a short head. Tony has been pushing runners through intensive speed sessions during previous training weeks and appears to be paying dividends. It should also be noted that Sue Ford 5th place performance would have placed her higher up the field last month. .Results
